I’m Zameer. I’m currently living in New York City and I’m from Toronto, Canada. I’m a Software Engineering graduate from the University of Waterloo. I currently work at Uber Eats.

About this Blog

I started this site in 2012 as a student and after writing a few posts, promptly forgot about it. Despite forgetting about it, I kept it online continuously, hosted on a tiny VPS from Digital Ocean. During 2021 I decided to dust this site off and continue to write posts. The primary motivation is to exercise my writing skills and provide a small space to share my findings. I don’t intend to publish frequently here, only when the opportunity to write and the desire to share my knowledge intersect.

This site is powered by nanoc and the code is hosted on GitHub. The source used to be public, but I find having draft posts public to be unseemly, so I made the repository private. The entire site is statically produced and hosted by nginx on Debian Linux.

The design of this site was inspired by Steve Losh but all of the CSS is mine. The favicon was made by ms.chibious. The font used is Plex Serif and Plex Sans and the site previously used Lora.

I used to have Disqus comments on this blog. I decided to remove Disqus because I feel discussions are better done elsewhere. Some of the Disqus comments are preserved on pages where there was significant discussion like Using Vim as $MANPAGER.

An RSS Feed is available of all posts because I am a big believer in using RSS to control personal media consumption.
